THIS… is a 1986 Jeep Cherokee 4×4, finished in Hugger Orange with a black interior.

The attached Carfax history report starts in 1995 and has multiple gaps, but lists no accidents for the given time period.
This Cherokee has been modified into a convertible, and its factory-fitted 2.8-liter V6 has been replaced by a Chevrolet-sourced 5.7-liter V8. The extensive list of modifications reported by the seller also includes a dual-pattern camshaft, an aluminum radiator, a Holley Sniper fuel injection system, an Iron Rock Off-Road 6.5-inch lift kit, Hugger Orange paint, half doors, Procar by SCAT front seats, a custom-made dashboard, GlowShift gauges, a custom-made roll cage, and textured paint on the floors.
Jeep’s significantly downsized Cherokee made its debut for 1984. Called XJ internally, it ditched its predecessor’s body-on-frame layout in favor of unibody construction to offer a more comfortable ride on the pavement, though it remained exceptionally capable off-road. It was a risky bet but it paid off: the XJ nearly doubled Jeep’s retail sales in 1984 and it remained available in America until 2001.
Power comes from a 5.7-liter V8. It spins the rear or all four wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.

Known Flaws

This Cherokee’s factory-fitted odometer was replaced with a digital GlowShift unit during the overhaul. The odometer currently displays about 50 miles but as a result, this Cherokee is offered as True Mileage Unknown, or TMU.
The seller reports a “tennis ball-sized dent” was filled with fiberglass and Bondo in the passenger-side rear quarter panel.

Recent Service History

The seller states that he has put about 50 miles on this Cherokee since performing the modifications. He adds that the fluids were changed before the build was completed, that the axles were overhauled with new bearings and seals during the build, and that a rebuilt steering box was installed as well.
